APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

THE ONLINE APPLICATION WILL OPEN ON JANUARY 2, 2025.

We plan to offer an on-campus program in 2025, featuring several courses.

The university no longer requires the COVID-19 immunization for non-healthcare students.

If you have questions or concerns regarding ESAP, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via email at pennesap@boldsummers.com.  There will be a delay in responses to emails until January 2025. 

Application Opens:   January 1, 2025
Application Deadline:    March 1, 2025

Decisions will be emailed after April 1, 2025.

Applications completed after the Application Deadline will be evaluated on a rolling basis only. You may check the completion status of your application at any time by logging into the application portal. We DO NOT send notifications for missing application materials.  Admission will be offered to qualified applicants based on space availability.

The following application materials are required:

  • Online application
  • 2025 Essay (two page limit):
    • Prompt:Discuss an experience or a concept that has led you
      to apply to the Engineering Summer Academy at Penn. What excites you about
      the field of engineering? Lastly, describe any skills or talents that will make you
      successful in the ESAP program.
  • OFFICIAL high school transcript: sent directly from your school via email as a PDF document to pennesap@boldsummers.com
  • 1 Letter of Recommendation: Contact information for your recommenders must be submitted on the online application (name, phone number, and email address). They will then be emailed instructions for submitting their letter online. Your letter of recommendation must be written by a math or science teacher.
  • $90 non-refundable application fee
  • **Standardized Test scores: PSAT, SAT I/ II, ACT, AP, TOEFL

**Standardized test scores are optional.  If you have taken any of the above tests and feel that your scores will strengthen your application, please submit them.  Upload a copy of your scores in the “Standardized Tests” section of the online application.  International students: please refer to our International Student page regarding TOEFL scores and English language requirements.
