English as a Second Language
TOEFL scores are required for international applicants whose native language is not English. Due to the competitive nature of this program, applications containing TOEFL scores below 80 will not be reviewed.
Please note that ESAP does not currently accept the IELTS exam for the TOEFL. Letters are not accepted as a substitute for TOEFL. Currently ESAP does not accept Duolingo results. TOEFL can be emailed to email@example.com. When sending, please include your first name, last name, email address, and date of birth.
If you are an international applicant (non-US citizen/ resident), an F-1 visa is REQUIRED to attend the program (visitor visas are not acceptable). The University of Pennsylvania is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant applicants. For more information please see International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) website.
Once accepted into the program, international students will receive additional information about applying for a visa. The process can be lengthy, and we recommend beginning immediately to ensure your visa is processed in time for the start of the program. We will contact all accepted international students individually to provide information on obtaining their F-1 visa.
**For those students currently studying in the US on an F-1 student visa, an additional student visa will not be required to attend ESAP (as long as it is valid during the program dates). We will confirm this during the enrollment period**
